I am an artist from Montgomery, Alabama, where I was born and raised. I attended The Montgomery Academy, where I took a number of art classes and completed the AP portfolio under the guidance of Hope Brannon. I then attended Hollins University, in Roanoke, Virgina, and I majored in studio art with a concentration in printmaking, particularly monotype.

During my four years at Hollins, I studied with a number of prestigious artist including: Bill White, Jane Knipe, Bob Sulkin, Marjory Portnow, Barbara Grossmann, Ben Pranger, Gillian Pederson-Krag, and Leigh Ann Beavers. I was privileged to attend the New York Studio School for Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture, during the Hollins short term semester. At the New York Studio School I studied with well know artist's Ophrah Shemesh, John Lees, Ruth Miller, Stanley Lewis, and Ron Milewicz. With the school emphasis on drawing, I was able to loosen up and not think so much about every single little detail. I focus on the `bigger` picture, the composition, form, shape space, and the overall flow and movement within my drawings. My medium of choice is Monotype. Monotype is an expression on paper of a design drawn and/or painted usually with the finger or a brush on a surface such as glass. For me monotype is a way to truly see something for the first time. It is an interpretation of how I see the world, whether it is a single object or a vast landscape. There is something so magical about being able to sit down with a blank canvas and interpret what you see thru mind and motion. This explorative journey that I take creating a monotype drawing opens the door into self discovery and visual expression. I feel I continue to grow with each new print I make. For me monotype is like combining drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography into one medium.
