Artist Statement
I have lived in the beautiful state of Alabama my entire life. Born the sixth daughter of my parents in Jacksonville, we then moved to Elmore County when I was three years old. For as long as I can remember art, in may forms has been a very important part of my life. As a child I loved to draw and crayon or create something with play dough, so I guess some things you never grow out of. I attended the Elmore County School System, and studied photography at Auburn University Montgomery. I will paint anything that I think will look good on canvas. Sometimes I am a Realist and sometimes not. My inspiration is usually a photograph, then I throw in a little attitude and mood, sometimes mixed with humor and sometimes just mixed up, and sometimes my art doesn't end up as it started, yet becomes something on its own. To me art is not all about perfect lines and color, but a story or a memory or a feeling someone gets when they look at the canvas. I have had minimal instruction, but I also do not consider myself self taught, yet given a gift, a gift I will continue to nurture.
