Statement
Artist Statement
While studying at the University of Alabama I took several courses that encourage and inspired me to think creatively. After graduation I taught in the Montgomery public schools for 10 years. I was given the opportunity to further develop my creative talents by teaching and helping others achieve their creative goals.
I have been fortunate over the years to have various other opportunities to develop and enhance my desire to be an impressionist artist. I studied with Doris Bell, owner of Jasmine Hill Art Gallery in Wetumpka, Alabama, and then with Liliane Nublat, a famous French impressionist painter that lives in Birmingham, Alabama. I developed my own style and am slightly impressionist and work mostly in oils. I love to paint scenes from Lake Martin, my flower garden, and various landscapes. I have also painted still life pictures, portraits of animals and scenes with children playing on the beach. I have been commissioned to paint numerous portraits of homes and scenes at the lake.
I truly love painting and hope to spend the rest of my life painting beautiful pictures and being involved in the ”Art World.”
